Hand Bell Choir meets weekly during the school year on Wednesdays at 6:15 pm. There are 12 members and 6 substitutes. It is open to confirmed members. Some music reading skill is helpful to learning how to play, but not a requirement. The group performs for services about once a quarter and for special occasions including Christmas Eve and Easter and the annual May concert. We have also performed in the community for the Franklin Chorale and the West Fork Variety show, for the visit of the Namibian Bishop at a synod event and at the UCC in Latimer. Diane Wills directs this group and can be contacted at secretary@zionstjohn.org or wills.dianes@gmail.com . She is a 1981 graduate of Wartburg College with degrees in Music Therapy and Music Education. She has directed various church music groups including adult, youth and children’s choirs, hand bell choirs of all ages, and a multi-generational orchestra. She began directing the ZSJ Bell Choir in 2009. She also plays a variety of instruments including flute, oboe, bassoon, saxophone, clarinet, piano, guitar and organ. She enjoys arranging pieces for special events and singing with her family.
