2020 update:

Dear Women of ZSJ and all ZSJ church members,

Many of our Women’s fundraisers and events have been affected by this COVID year. However, we are not going to let it get us down, it just means we need to be more creative and diligent!

With that in mind, the Women’s board voted to alter our usual Holiday events.

We will have our Advent by Candlelight event, Sunday November 29 @ 6:00 pm, but it will be only the worship and no dessert. We will also Livestream this program for those who wish to participate from home. This event will still be a wonderful way to begin the Advent season of waiting and preparing.

The Heat and Eat event will be held next spring rather than this fall. Please watch for updates in the bulletin, newsletter and Facebook page.

With the utmost of caution in mind, the board has chosen to make the Holiday Food Fair a Bakeless Holiday Food Fair. That means we are asking all those who have donated or purchased cookies, baked goods, candies, cinnamon rolls, Fair trade items, cards, etc. in the past, to consider a donation to the Women of ZSJ instead. The proceeds from the Holiday Food Fair have been used to support local charities and projects here at the church. As many organizations, we are struggling to meet our donation obligations to ministries like Lutheran Services in Iowa, KCMR radio, Men’s and Women’s Shelters in Mason City, Lutheran World Relief, Sheffield EMS Services, Francis Lauer Youth Services, Wings of Refuge, our own quilters, campership scholarships and others. We would like to be able to give as generously to these charities as we have in the past, but we need your help.

We ask you to prayerfully consider donating, so we can support one another in our callings and promote healing and wholeness in our community, society and world. They need it now more than ever!

You can drop off your donations (checks payable to WELCA) in the church office or mail them to:

Diane Wills WELCA 1399 Beeds Lake Drive Hampton Iowa 50441

We wish you the most blessed holiday season as we prepare with joy the coming of the beautiful Baby Jesus!

Thank you for your generosity!
